Domaine Clotilde Davenne

We found this winery while looking for winery tours; this was the first that was not either a bus tour or simply a tasting experience. Our tour was led by Arneau (spelling??), who's English was excellent and was only eclipsed by his friendliness and openness, and welcoming approach. The vineyard has a commanding view of the entire Chablis valley and there was an excellent explanation of the where and why the various cru's of Chablis are and why. There was a short tour of the winemaking area of the operation, with thorough explanation of their specific process as an extension of the expression of "this grape from this place". We were unable to see the bottling portion of th eoperation because they wer running the labeling line for their cremant product and so visiting was not appropriate while machinery was in use. The wine tasting was generous, with more information on specifics about crement blends, their sauvignon blanc product (who knew? ! This was the most unique sauv blanc I can recall, not at all like the typical taste but still identifiable by te fruit, but at once easy to drink with complexity not typical for that grape.) We tasted through their chardonnay offerings as well as their petite chablis. All high quality, all at once similar (winemaker skill here??) and different. You learn a LOT about burgundy as a region and grapes and wines. Don't miss the Irancy wine. Arneau wil explain why! 6 stars for me.

Bonjour, Nous avons été bien accueilli, les explications étaient claires et la visite c'est super bien déroulé. Nous avons appris beaucoup sur le domaine ainsi que sur la région d'un point de vu viticole et historique à ma plus grande surprise Nous avons pu voir de A à Z la production et mise en bouteille.Sur la dégustation un large choix de vins, et des explications claires. Nous sommes des novices donc un palais peu développé mais l'aide apporté à permis de trouver les saveurs. J'aurais aimé éventuellement un ou des conseils pour optimiser la dégustation.Dans l'ensemble vraiment super comme activité je recommande. Merci

A genuinely warm welcome from our host and winemaker who helped us through the wines of the Domaine. Interesting and approachable wines from Chablis & Auxerre all of great quality and some worth keeping for a few more years. We learned so much and enjoyed the wines immensely . Thank you from us both (and the dogs).

Wonderful experience in the Chablis region! We were introduced to the production of Chablis and other wines of Bourgogne with interesting explanations and we visited the property. In the end we tasted several wines of the domaine, both white and red wines, and we loved all of them. We recommend the visit to domaine Clotilde Davenne!
