It was nice to tour one of the mid-sized champagne houses and taste their wines. Having toured and tasted at Moet & Chandon, which was also well worth the visit, we would recommend a visit to Alfred Gratien as well. Enjoy!

A wonderfully personal and insightful English-language tour that brings to life a house rooted in tradition.Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained every stage in detail, from the work still done by hand to the parts now handled by machine. We were shown the oak barrels, learned about fermentation, and heard about the barrel-making itself and how the oak is sourced. We also learned how wine is transferred from barrel into large glass demijohns before moving further in the process. Although we didn't see production in operation, the explanations gave a clear picture of the methods used and the way tradition is upheld. What stood out was the strong sense of family history behind the house. It never felt rushed or scripted; there was plenty of time for questions and real conversation. Our group of eight was joined by just three others, who kept it intimate and relaxed. The tasting was generous and unhurried, with no pressure to buy, although champagne and accessories were available if you wished. Together, it felt authentic and welcoming, a chance to appreciate the tradition of the house as well as the wine itself.

The wines were superb. The lady who conducted our tasting was extremely nice and knowledgable. We were there on my wife’s birthday, and a very special wine was poured for us (that was not part of our tasting package) in honor of the event. We will never forget the kindness and generosity.

We had a very nice guided tour and tasting. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny and spoke very good English. The tasting was also very good with tips, information and very good champagne.

Paring champagne and cheese was a unique experience. Our guide shared a lot of interesting information about champagne's and cheese's aspects and how one can enhance the each other taste. All the champagnes and cheeses served were excellent. An amazing expetience, indeed.
