Château Couhins, Grand Cru Classé

We had a brilliant visit to the vineyard and a talk in English and then tasted four wines (two whites, two reds). We were a group of just the four of us and loved the chance to ask questions and chat with our guide. We felt like we learnt so much about how wine is made and the challenges faced by winemakers. The wines were all different and different ones were favourites for each of us but we ended buying bottles of all. I would highly recommend this to visitors to Bordeaux who would like a nearby vineyard to visit in either French or English. We drove and it was 30min form central Bordeaux with lots of parking.

Je n'attendais pas grande en y allant car j'avais été déçue d'une dégustation réalisée dans un autre chateau de la région mais j'avais tort. Personneltrès gentilet accueillant. J'avais avec moi des personnes qui ne parlaient pas français et j'ai dû faire de la traduction simultanée, ce qui n'a pas du tout géné le monsieur en charge de la dégustation. Ce monsieur très charmant, nous a fourni de très bonnes explications dans un climat convivial. Les vins sont merveilleux et en plus sont le fruit de la recherche scientifique, ce qui pour moi est un vrai plus. A refaire absolument.

Lovely visit to the Chateau and tour. Fantastic guidance from Antoine whose english was much better than our French. He explained the whole process with great passion answered our questions as we visited each section of the tour. The highlight for us was the wine cave and the wine tasting. So good in fact that we all left with wine to take home. Highly recommended.
