About the winery

Château de Sales is one of the few wineries in the Bordeaux region to have been passed down in its entirety from generation to generation for almost five centuries. Its Carthusian monastery, built in the mid-seventeenth century, has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1996.

Our guide, Jeffrey, gave us a very informative tour and clearly knew the history of the Chateau. He also provided information about the wines and their vintages and we enjoyed his company.

My husband and I had a lovely afternoon with Sarah. Sarah is very knowledgeable and a very sweet young lady. We are here in the area from Northern California (Sonoma/Napa counties) to learn about French wines. So far, we are extremely impressed and learned a lot today. We are here for another four weeks and pretty sure we will be back to visit Chateau de Sales again to purchase more wine. Thank you so much, Carolyn and Rich

My tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the chateau, and made the experience warm and inviting. The wine was my favorite out of all the tastings I went to in France!

A truly exceptional visit for 8 people of various ages from 18 to 70, with various levels of wine knowledge - we were made to feel extremely welcome at this beautiful family-owned vineyard, with a guided tour of the grounds and facilities, and a tasting of some of their marvellous Pomerol wines - our guide was most convivial and provided a wealth of interesting facts about the chateau, the wine and French wine making in general. I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough - we came away with half a dozen bottles and wished we had space for more!
