Caves Ambacia

The story of Caves Ambacia began with Louis XI's arrival at the Château Royal d'Amboise in the 15th century. The vineyards around the Château d'Amboise produced a wine much appreciated by Louis XI. The king ordered it to be sold at the Tours market before any other wine. In 1463, Caves Ambacia was born. In 1874, the Duhard family moved into our ... cellars. A family of Ambois coopers, they became wine brokers. In 2017, 25 years after his first visit to the cellars, Pascal Mineau took over management. With a wealth of experience in gastronomic catering as head sommelier and then director of a Michelin-starred restaurant, Pascal is an epicurean attached to the values of the terroir, and is determined to keep the extraordinary Oenothèque Duhard alive, thanks to the exceptional quality of the Chenin grape grown in Vouvray. Our commitment is to share with our visitors the riches of the Loire Valley terroirs. Our selection of wines reflects our quest for authenticity and simplicity. Each parcel has its own history, its own name, its own identity. Our aim is to select parcels ideally located on gentle slopes bathed in sunshine. As part of our environmentally-friendly approach, they are either organic, in conversion to organic or biodynamic. Some of these terroirs are planted with century-old vines.
