Château Sipian

Chateau Sipian is, of course, a terroir, but it is above all the history and passion of a family spanning three generations!

Nicole and Bernard MEHAYE acquired 22 hectares of vines in Valeyrac in the early 1970s. Their son, Frédéric, took over the running of the estate in 1989 and continued to develop it, reaching 50 hectares of vines 25 ... years later. Today, he is joined by his son and daughter, Quentin and Clarisse, who have made wine their profession, continuing the family tradition.

Blending tradition and non-conformism, Frédéric has brought the 1855 grape varieties up to date by adding Malbec, Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Sémillon to his vineyards. He was one of the first Médoc winegrowers to produce a 100% Petit Verdot. He followed this up 20 years later by producing a 100% Semillon white wine.

A true non-conformist, refusing to accept standardisation, Frédéric experiments and creates new vintages every year, betting on more innovative, more attractive packaging and drawing inspiration from new generations.
The MEHAYE family's daily challenge is to produce the very best wines every year, making the most of their exceptional terroir, while innovating and adapting to today's demands and already imagining the wines of tomorrow. see more
