About the winery

In 1801, a captain in Napoleon's army created this castle. You can still admire the captain's coat of arms on the façade of the house. The Burotte-Audy family bought the property in 1926, and gave life to this magnificent acquisition located at the gates of Libourne. It was inhabited until the 1980s.

Wonderful experience at Chateau Bonalgue

I visited Chateau Bonalgue in mid-March of 2026.The experience, all round, was excellent. The tour guide was extremely welcoming and provided a knowledgeable tour of various elements of the winery and Bordeaux wine culture. It was very calming to walk alongside the vines on a pleasant spring day and the tasting room was eloquently decorated and comfortable. Tasting various wines of the same vintage side-by-side was both interesting, and of course, delicious. The 2018 Chateau Bonalgue and Clos Du Clocher are bursting with the ripe plum and black cherry notes associated with world-class Merlot, alongside refined undertones of cocoa/coffee, and other earthy notes.Both bottles can proudly stand alongside similar expressions that demand far higher price tags from arguably France's most plush and elegant appellation.I look forward to some day returning with my family to explore this Chateau and hotel in greater detail.Thank you to the whole team at Chateau Bonalgue for wonderful afternoon.

Muy buena experiencia con la visita de esta bodega y muy bien explicada por Antón, al final una cata de 4 vinos muy buenos y como colofón un licor de producción propia al que llaman jean muy interesante.

Una visita molt agradable, personalitzada segons els coneixements previs que puguis tenir sobre el tema. No només visites el celler sinó també fan explicacions a peu de vinya. Molt recomanable.

Una experiencia de la cual aprendimos y disfrutamos muchísimo. Primero con la bienvenida de Jean baptist y después con la visita guiada y las estupendas explicaciones de Evelyn. Cata estupenda y lugar muy agradable y acogedor. La recomiendo 100%

El chico (siento no recordar el nombre)que nos hizo la visita se esforzó en explicarse en español,, fue muy amable y pasamos un rato muy agradable,probando unos vinos excepcionales (incluso una cata más de la contratada)! Muy recomendable!

We booked a tasting using ruedesvignerons (very easy) and we were on our way but running late. We called to explain that we would be late and the winery immediately accommodated us with a later tasting. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly with a great intro to the chateau and their associated chateaux (4 total). All run by the same team and then we were introduced to the differences through a horizontal tasting before trying an older vintage of their most famous wine. All in all a beautiful stop and lovely introduction to Pomerol by the winery Bonalgue. Highly recommended.
