About the winery

The Fonroque winery extends over 17.60 hectares of vineyards a few hundred metres north-west of the town of Saint-Emilion. It is spread over a limestone plateau and a west-facing hillside. Château Fonroque was the very first Grand Cru Classé to be certified biodynamic.

Château Fonroque was definitely our favourite Château we visited, it was so interesting learning about the biodynamic approach to winemaking. It was such a beautiful château, the guide was so knowledgeable and the tour was really engaging, we really appreciated it.

Visite très agréable avec un guide bien instruit, enthousiaste et sympathique. Ambiance très accueillante. Localisation parfaite juste à 10 minute à pied du centre-ville de Saint-Émilion.

We thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting at the Chateau Fonroque and still have a few bottles left :) In addition to good wine we appreciated that our dog was allowed to join us (and he was even allowed to run freely on the grounds after the wine tasting that he enjoyed very much). We will likely be back next autumn.
