Manoir de la Mazeraie

We booked Manoir de Mazeraie for a family day out — four adults and five kids (7–11) — because it offered a vineyard tour with a picnic lunch. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.Alexis welcomed us the moment we arrived, with her big friendly dog Matty keeping the children happy. Her English is flawless, and she explained her winemaking with real passion. In the cellar we tried four wines — the pinot gris was our favourite — alongside her homemade French savoury cake with goat’s cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.The picnic, just a two-minute drive away, was picture-perfect: a table under a huge oak tree beside the vines, beautifully set with crockery and glassware. Alexis handed over a hamper packed with food she’d made that morning, two bottles of her rosé, and fresh apple juice from her own orchard for the kids. Everything was delicious.It felt like a private, tailor-made experience at a very fair price. Highly recommended — we’ll be back next time we’re in the Loire.
