Wonderful cell tour

It was my friends’ first visit to Épernay, and the cellar tour at Alfred Gratien did not disappoint. Our group of 5 wound up being a private tour. Tour guide spoke perfect English (like most folks in the tasting rooms of Épernay). He told us interesting stories and answered all of our many questions. After the 45ish min tour, we had a tasting of tour champagnes. Alfred Gratien is only a few blocks from the main thoroughfare of the Avenue de Champagne so easily walkable but be aware that it’s an uphill walk - easy for many but could be moderately difficult for those with mobility needs. Highly recommend!

Visite très instructive, merci à Lucas notre guide pour son accueil souriant et chaleureux, il aime son métier et en parle avec passion, ses explications sont claires et précises, il répond avec patience à nos questions de néophytes. Après la visite de la cave vient le temps de la dégustation, moment très agréable,convivial et généreux ! Grand merci à lui, nous garderons un excellent souvenir de ce moment fort sympathique.

Very much novices in this area but tour of facilities and tastings was easy to understand. Also for people who have a better understanding in this area, our guide Melissa was able to provide all aspects of the process. Totally recommended and enjoyable.

Not impressed. It was very impersonal and boardroom setting (one huge table). We got two glasses, which they provided right away. Wasn’t much detail or expression shared in what we were drinking, other than one was a vintage. Not even sure they shared or showed the bottle. Others we attended we had 3 glasses and each had a separate turn. They turned a party of 3 away with no reservation and they were not full. This one is off the beaten path. Not friendly, and more here is your champagne. Drink it, I would not recommend

Beautiful champagnes though our host was having to look after every tour and manage the whole day alone. He did a fantastic job but it felt a bit rushed and the tasting room is locked in between tours and tastings which is a shame as I would have stayed to sample more. I think the champagne house would gain revenue by employing more staff!

Brilliant tour… our guide was fabulous and I felt like I learned more about Epernay on this trip than any other champagne house tours. The champagne tasting was brilliant and we bought one of the vintage bottles to take home. Fully recommend as a medium sized champagne house - I suggest you get a better experience with the smaller ones than the well known brands.
