Charming château, poor wine

Pros: The château is beautiful, surrounded by a large park, and makes a truly striking impression - especially if it's your first time visiting a place like this in France. It feels much more like a real castle than a winery. The tour was interesting, and our guide was very pleasant and professional.Cons: The wine tasting, however, left a lot to be desired. It felt like an assembly line, with no explanations on how to properly taste the wine or appreciate its aromas. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to appreciate anyway, as the wines were a complete disappointment. While the dry red was somewhat acceptable, we did not like the Sauvignon Blanc and the CrémantDespite that, the experience was still more positive than negative thanks to the venue and the tour.

Fronsac is one of favorite Bordeaux wines, so I’m biased. Yet, the Châteaux de La Rivière tour creates memories that will stay with you long after you left the region and went back home. The setting, the history, the ambiance, the impressive castle overlooking vineyards and the Dordogne valley, everything contributes to take you to another place where time has stopped. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will lead you through the old quarry underneath the castle now turned into the perfect cellar where thousands are great millésimes are patiently awaiting to, one day, accompany delicates plates for the delight of wine connoisseurs. Sherry on the cake, you get to taste the red, white, and the rosé in “La salle des armes” at the end of the tour. In short: fantastic tour that you don’t want to miss.

Nous avons été très bien reçus et parfaitement bien accompagnés lors de cette visite/dégustation. Les explications étaient claires , précises et intéressantes. Très bonne expérience et bon retours de tout le groupe composé de 20 personnes.

Excellent visit to the cool caves

As a family of six we picked this chateau since with four kids we wanted more than a tasting. And here they really delivered! The cool caves (both literally and figuratively!) were lovely during the heatwave, and the English tour was superbly delivered. The tasting was enjoyable and to be fair for me Fronsac wines compete well with the neighbouring Pomerol appellation despite being less prestigious.

Très contents de notre visite. Le domaine et le château sont magnifiques, tout comme les histoires qui sont racontées par rapport à ceux-ci. De très belles caves avec leur histoire à travers les siècles. Lucie a été très gentille du début à la fin. Très recommandé.

Merci à Christian de nous avoir accompagné dans cette visite pleine de surprises. Les lieux sont d une grande beauté et les commentaires avisés révèlent toute la complexité du travail de la vigne et de sa production.

Our group of 9 (4 adults and 5 young children) had an amazing time doing a tour of this beautiful chateau. They wine was delicious and the tour guide gave plenty of details during the tour. The caves where the wine is stored was amazing. The kids loved it. The staff was also very accommodating and patient and kind to our young children.
