La cantina

La storia di Château de Pressac risale al Medioevo, quando fu fondato, come testimonia la sua porta medievale. Lo Château fu poi fortificato più volte. Nel 1453, dopo la vittoria francese a Castillon-la-Bataille, il castello di Pressac fu il luogo della resa che pose fine alla Guerra dei Cento Anni. Chateau de Pressac was a lovely experience! The place has so much history and it was very cool to see the unique innovations they are trying in their own winemaking process. It is a very large vineyard, so it was very interesting learning about how they manage six different types of grapes across their property. The tour was quite short, but out of all the tours we did, we think it was our favorite for a few reasons. First, our guide, Benjamin, was so knowledgeable and made the tour fun while also answering all of our questions about the history and winemaking process there. Second, the wine itself was some of the best we tasted across the tours we did and our time in Saint Emilion. The tasting was fun, and Benjamin expertly walked us through four different wines. My favorite tasting the same wine from two consecutive years and seeing how different they were (all climate/weather dependent!). They also gave us charcuterie along with the wine tasting (which most places do not typically do), which really enhanced the experience.

Excellent tour, with history of the locale as well as technical explanation of the winemaking. The blind tasting was a really nice feature that helped us appreciate the features of each of the wines presented.
