About the winery

The Abbaye de Valmagne dates back to 1139 when the Cistercian monks, in search of a great terroir to set up their abbey, chose Valmagne. They were driven out during the Revolution and it was in 1838 that the Count of Turenne bought the Abbey as a wine-growing estate. Visite très instructive avec Clémence!

Très bonne visite sur l'histoire de l'Abbaye par la guide Clémence, tout était clair et transmis avec le sourire. Les vins sont assez inégaux mais l'ensemble reste agréable, et on peut dire qu'il y en a pour toutes les bourses!

Beautiful Abbey with good commentary. It doesn't take long to go around but you are left to take it at your own pace and can relax in the restaurant or explore the gardens. The wine tasting was brief but covered the basics and the welcome was excellent. Everyone spoke good English when they realised how bad our French was

Très beau lieu à découvrir et à visiter. Le cloître ainsi que l'église sont magnifiques. Un bémol : le restaurant laisse l'encart pour faire une réservation sur le site internet alors qu'il n'est plus opérationnel. S'il ne fonctionne plus alors supprimez le !

A l'occasion des journées du patrimoine 2023 et de la visite de l'abbaye de Valmagne l'accueil, le déjeuner, la qualité des produits, le vin, l'ambiance tout à été parfait.

Le dimanche 17 septembre 2023. Nous avons profité du moment pour visiter l’abbaye après l’excellent déjeuner mangé à l’auberge. Malheureusement l’exposition de peintures et de sculptures a gâché ce cadre magnifique tant les œuvres exposées sont d’une laideur agressive et diabolique en totale contradiction avec ce que symbolise ce lieu.
