Domaine de Saliès

Built on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa known as "Villa Céliano", Château de Saliès bears the legacy of a long past. Since the end of the 20th century, our family has continued to run the winery, which has now been handed down to the third generation.

The Saliès winery lies at the heart of Cathar country, between the ... Montagne Noire and the Canal du Midi. It occupies an undulating territory where garrigues and pine forests blend together, offering a natural setting typical of the South of France. Set on clay-limestone "soubergues" ("hillsides" in Occitan), our vineyards cover 38 hectares, combining vines and pine forests.

We grow the region's historic varieties, such as Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. Mediterranean varieties such as Syrah, Viognier and Mourvèdre also thrive here. Although we favour traditional varieties, which are particularly well suited to the changing climate in our region, we also make Chardonnay, Malbec and other varieties that are further removed from our origins.
