Château de Nouvelles

Built on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa, the Château de Nouvelles once stood guard over this valley, a much-travelled route between France and Spain. This fertile land, renowned since the 11th century as an ideal site for quality wine-growing, has produced wines recognised under the AOC designation: Fitou, Muscat de Rivesaltes, ... Rivesaltes and Corbières.

Around the mid-15th century, the Lordship of Nouvelles passed to the House of Mage and Salsa. This family, originally from La Grasse and one of the oldest in Languedoc, held the winery for over 400 years. The historic buildings were held in joint ownership, and the Fort and Chavanette families purchased three-quarters of the land between 1834 and 1857. After several generations who dedicated themselves to the estate – Elise Chavanette, Augusta Daurat, Gabrielle Daurat, Robert Daurat and Jean Daurat – it is now run by Jean-Rémy Daurat.

A range of IGP wines – white, rosé and red – will accompany your moments of sharing and conviviality for your greatest enjoyment.
The Fitou range is very diverse. All the wines are produced from selected plots, ranging from 20 to over 100 years old. The limestone and schist soils produce wines ranging from fresh fruit to the aromas of stewed fruit, offering everything from wines to enjoy now to great wines for laying down.
For lovers of fruitiness and enjoyment, our Muscats will delight you.
For those who appreciate aromatic complexity, our Rivesaltes – both white and red – will surprise you every time you share them.
The winery began its conversion to organic farming in 2018. The 2021 harvest was awarded organic certification. At the same time, the vines are tended in accordance with the standards of the Bee Friendly label. see more
